Meditation Counseling
Mindfulness meditation is an excellent way to lower stress and enhance our health and well-being. Meditation helps us train ourselves to be present in our bodies and in the present moment. It incorporates three aspects: good posture, paying attention to our breath, and working with our thoughts. This simple technique trains our mind to be more centered and pliable, empowering us to take better care of ourselves.
What to expect during a meditation session
In the first session, you will be asked about previous meditation experience (if any) and your reasons for bringing meditation into your life at this time. You will learn a breath-based mindfulness meditation technique and will strategize how to logistically begin and maintain a daily meditation practice. Some people find one session is enough; others prefer to come in for follow-ups. All appointments are 50 minutes.
Conditions that benefit from meditation
Fee
One-on-one meditation guidance (50min) $90
Group meditation sessions are also offered. Have a look at our workshops.
Practitioner
Sherap Andrea Winn
Sherap is a second generation Shambhalian Buddhist, a contemporary form of Tibetan Buddhism which cultivates the qualities of fearlessness, gentleness and intelligence, and encourages us to constantly strive to see the goodness and sense of possibility in all situations. These values were impressed upon Sherap since childhood, shaping her approach to being a healer and meditation teacher.
Through completing a Women`s Studies degree and working in various abuse shelters, Sherap has sought to understand women`s place in this world. She credits the influence of Women Who Run With the Wolves by psychoanalyst and skilled cantadora, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Shares Sherap, “I work to bring together the dignity and fearlessness of Shambhala with the gut-level wisdom and intuition of being a woman in all my activities, including my therapeutic work and meditation teaching.” For more information about Sherap, please visit her personal website.
Sherap also offers BEAM therapy.
