You can help women and infants in Haiti
Jenni Huntly, a midwife and dear friend to Lifecycles Wellness will be travelling to Haiti on April 24 for one week (initially) to volunteer with a not-for-profit organization that has been working in Haiti for a number of years called Midwives for Haiti. She will be in a prenatal clinic and midwifery school in Hinche, north of the capital. While this is not the area hardest hit by the earthquake, her presence will free up other local midwives to travel to areas where the need is more significant. Jenni is collecting donations for the new mothers and infants she’ll meet in Haiti.
If you feel inspired, here are a number of ways you can support her:
Encouragement and support of every kind are always welcome; send her a note: jhuntly@hotmail.com Let her know if you would like her to add you to a list of people she will be updating while she’s there (if she’s able) and once she returns. She would love to hear from anyone who has traveled to Haiti recently or prior to the earthquake.
Financial donations, which will be used for supplies, can be made through PayPal Any financial donations made before Apr.10 will go towards medical equipment and the supplies listed below. Unfortunately, a tax-deductible receipt is not possible for Jenni, as she’s an individual volunteer – not a registered charity.
